New Delhi, Nov 21 (ANI): Talking about the controversy on German language in Kendriya Vidayalas, HRD Minister Smriti Irani said that there was a memorandum of understanding that was presenting German language as the third language in India. She said that any such MoU is against the Constitution of India and cannot be passed by the central government. Irani said that she rejected to sign on the MoU when it came for renewal. The HRD Minister also said that as far as students are concerned, teachers will be made available for them on choice of any Indian language but not on German language which is a foreign language. Rajnath Singh calls for comprehensive debate on special status to JandK

Leh, Nov 21 (ANI): Home Affairs Minister Rajnath Singh called for a comprehensive debate on special status to poll-bound Jammu and Kashmir granted in the Constitution. According to Article 370, the Indian government needs approval of Kashmir assembly to implement all other laws except for defence, foreign affairs, finance and communications. Singh said the ruling BJP would repeal the article, if the people of Jammu and Kashmir were ready. Singh alleged that Article 370 was impediment in development of the state. The BJP is banking on support in Hindu-dominated Jammu as well as in Buddhist Ladakh to pick up seats. The Election Commission of India has already announced the dates for assembly elections in Kashmir. The polls will be held in five-phases, beginning on November 25 and ending on December 20. Leaders from eight nations - Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, the Maldives, Sri Lanka, Nepal, India and Pakistan - meet in Kathmandu for two days from November 26 for SAARC summit. 45th International Film Festival of India kicks-off in Goa

Goa, Nov 20 (ANI): Movie buffs would get a taste of Indian as well as foreign films as 11-day International Film Festival of India (IFFI) is going to kick-off from Thursday (November 20) in Goa. The event will be inaugurated at Shyama Prasad Mukherjee stadium in Bambolim and offer a wide variety of 110 films and 28 Oscar entries. The chief guest of the 45th edition of IFFI will be Bollywood star Amitabh Bachchan. The event will also pay tribute to British filmmaker Richard Attenborough, who died in August this year. Special homage will also be paid to Bollywood actors including Zohra Sehgal, Suchitra Sen and Farooq Sheikh. Northeast region will be a special focus and nine northeast films will be showcased at the festival.
