New Delhi, Nov 24 (ANI): The Director General of UNESCO Irina Bokova met External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj in New Delhi on Monday. After the meeting the Foreign Ministry spokesperson tweeted "Women to the fore in diplomacy. Minister @SushmaSwaraj and Irina Bokova DG of @UNESCO discuss 'exclusion and empowerment'". It was recently announced at a meeting of the UN Chief Executives Board (CEB) held in Washington on 20-21st November that the Director General of UNESCO will also be taking over the chairmanship of the High-Level Committee on Management (HLCM) for 2015-2016. New Delhi, Nov 22 (ANI): Former Pakistan Foreign Minister Khurshid Mahmood Kasuri has said that New Delhi and Islamabad were very close to framework an agreement on the Kashmir issue during previous Congress-led regime in 2008. Kasuri is in Delhi to participate in Track-II dialogue that also involves Congress leader Mani Shankar Aiyar. Kasuri said that 80-90 percent of the issue was resolved through back channel during Manmohan Singh government. Pakistan arrests 61 Indian fishermen

Karachi, Nov 22 (ANI): Pakistan maritime authorities arrested sixty one Indian fishermen and took into custody their eleven boats for illegal fishing in the country's territorial waters. The fishermen, who were arrested on November 20, had been handed over to Docks Police Station in Karachi for necessary legal action. The arrested fishermen have been charged under Foreign Act and Fisheries Act. Fishermen from both the countries frequently stray into each other territory and end up spending years in their jails. President Obama accepts PM Modi's invite to be chief guest at Republic Day

New Delhi, Nov 22 (ANI): US president Barack Obama has accepted Prime Minister Narendra Modi's invitation to be the chief guest at Republic Day celebrations in January. Foreign Ministry Spokesperson, Syed Akbaruddin said that a confirmation was received through diplomatic channel about Obama's visit to the country. Obama was invited by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and will be the first U.S. president to attend a Republic Day celebration, which marks the enactment of India's constitution on January 26, 1950.
