Bishenpur, Jan 07 (ANI): Police personnel shot down two suspected militants in an encounter in Bishenpur district of Manipur. Following a tip-off, police cordoned off a house in the district belonging to one Mohammad Mujibur Rahaman. The militants then started firing at the police. Police confirmed that two suspects were killed in the cross firing. The police also recovered two 9mm pistols, one grenade and some documents from the site. The two suspected militants were later identified as belonging to the separatist group United Revolutionary Front (URF). Jan 7, 2015

Siliguri, Jan 07 (ANI): India and Bangladesh officials and police discussed border related issues such as human trafficking, illegal arms smuggling, immigration and border management in Siliguri. Indian delegation was led by Barun Roy while Mohammed Jahangeer Kobir led the Bangladeshi delegation. Both the sides would prepare a report which would be submitted to their respective governments that would develop cordial relation between the two countries. A parliamentary committee urged the Indian government to table a constitutional amendment that would pave the way for a land swap deal that Bangladesh and India have been negotiating for years. Villagers move to relief camps as shelling intensifies along India-Pakistan border

Kathua, Jan 06 (ANI): Hundreds of villagers living along the India-Pakistan border in Jammu and Kashmir moved to relief camps after cross-border firing intensified between the two neighbouring countries. Villagers living along the international border are agitated with Pakistan for violating the ceasefire truce time and again. While hundreds of them left their homes with their belongings on tractors towards safer havens, many others walked to the relief camps. Another villager in the Samba district of Jammu and Kashmir, Balwinder Singh said the government should take initiative to end the border disturbances permanently. Bhopal/ Poonch, Jan 06 (ANI): Security expert said that Pakistan was trying to help militants enter India by firing at border posts in Jammu and Kashmir. Indian and Pakistani troops intensified cross-border firing overnight, even as one Indian border guard died in the firing. A senior Indian official with the border security force said they had retaliated against machine gun and mortar attacks on about 60 positions along a more than 200-km (125-mile) stretch of the border. A security expert, SR Sinho said that Pakistan was helping militants infiltrate in Indian Territory as they were planning something big before January 26. Amid the growing hostility, India's security agencies last week declared a nationwide alert to avoid militant strikes in the lead-up to visits by top US diplomat John Kerry and President Barack Obama later in January. Meanwhile, villagers living along the international border in Poonch district condemned the firing. A resident of Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK), Mohammad Iqbal said firing was not the solution. One BSF jawan killed in fresh ceasefire violations by Pak rangers

Samba, Jan 05 (ANI): One BSF jawan was martyred in fresh ceasefire violations by Pakistani Rangers at Hiranagar in Samba sector of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday. Pakistani Rangers had violated ceasefire again by targeting border posts in Kathua and Samba sectors, drawing retaliation from BSF. Scared villagers were seen running for refuge during the ceasefire violations in the area. Villagers continued to migrate to safer areas in view of the latest round of ceasefire violations by Pakistan. Over 3,500 villagers have migrated from border villages in Samba and Kathua districts.
