India reels under summer's spell, mercury touches above 40 degrees in some states

Ranchi/Agra, June 06 (ANI): Residents and tourists across India suffered as severe heat wave conditions intensified unabated on Friday and temperatures rose above 40 degrees Celsius in some states. Tourists visiting the iconic monument Taj Mahal in Agra city of Uttar Pradesh complained of lack of basic facilities like drinking water by the authorities under oppressive heat conditions. The maximum temperature in Agra was recorded above 40 degrees Celsius and the city also faced severe power cuts and acute water crisis. In Jharkhand, pedestrians and two-wheeler riders suffered the most under sweltering sun and looked for ways to beat the heat. Angry crowd sets bus on fire after it hits car and two-wheeler in Noida

Noida, June 06 (ANI): Violence erupted in Noida city in Uttar Pradesh after a speeding bus hit two-wheeler and a car, which provoked irate residents and they set the bus on fire. Fire tenders and police officials were rushed to the spot. No causalities have been reported yet. The police, at the accident site, said people ran after setting the bus on fire.
