New Delhi, Jan 10 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday addressed a rally at Ramlila Ground in New Delhi ahead of Assembly Polls in the capital state. Modi praised Urban Development Minister Venkaiah Naidu for being informed about the capital state and initializing various reforms for development. He lauded his 'Jan Dhan Yojana' under which poor were able to open up their bank accounts and added a lot of amount to the country's GDP. Security arrangements and traffic management in place ahead of PM Modi's 'Abhinandan Rally'

New Delhi, Jan 10 (ANI): Security was tightened around the Ramlila Ground on Saturday in view of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's rally at the venue in the national capital. The Delhi Traffic Police have also made elaborate arrangements to ensure the smooth movement of traffic. Modi is to address "Abhinandan Rally" which will be attended by around 1 lakh people. PM will formally kick off BJP's campaign for the upcoming Delhi Assembly polls on Saturday at the mega rally. Top leaders including BJP president Amit Shah, Union ministers Arun Jaitely, M Venkaiah Naidu and Piyush Goyal will attend the rally. Besides, chief ministers of Haryana, Jharkhand and Maharashtra will share the dais with the prime minister. The traffic police has advised commuters going to New Delhi Railway Station, Old Delhi Railway Station and ISBT to start early with sufficient time in hand for absorbing possible delays in the routes. Sri Lanka elects Maithripala Sirisena as new president

Chennai, Jan 09 (ANI): Opposition candidate Maithripala Sirisena has been declared as the new President of Sri Lanka. The soft spoken 63-year-old has vowed to root out corruption and bring constitutional reforms. Sirisena, who will later in the day take oath as the seventh President of Sri Lanka, beat the incumbent Mahinda Rajapaksa after securing 51.28 percent of the votes cast. Meanwhile, President Pranab Mukherjee congratulated Sri Lanka President-elect Maithiripala Sirisena on his poll victory. Urban Development Minister Venkaiah Naidu said that the election process is an internal matter of Sri Lanka and hoped that both Sri Lanka and India share good relations. Ranchi, Dec 28 (ANI): BJP leader Raghubar Das was sworn in as the first non-tribal chief minister of Jharkhand on Sunday. He was administered oath of office and secrecy by Jharkhand Governor Syed Ahmed at the Birsa Munda Football Stadium in Ranchi. Four cabinet ministers Nilkanth Singh Munda, Chandreswar Prasad Singh, Chandraprakash Choudhary and Louis Marandi were also sworn in along with Raghubar Das. Elaborate arrangements were made for the function which was attended by a host of leaders although Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP president Amit Shah were unable to attend the ceremony due to bad weather conditions. Union Ministers Venkaiah Naidu and Nitin Gadkari were also present at the ceremony. Venkaiah Naidu lauds tabling of goods and service tax bill in Parliament

New Delhi, Dec 24 (ANI): Parliamentary Affairs Minister Venkaiah Naidu lauded the Goods and Service Tax (GST) bill presented by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley in the parliament during its winter session, saying once implemented the bill will be one of the most far reaching tax reforms since independence. Jaitley had on December 19 tabled GST bill, pressing on with a key piece of reform to replace a myriad range of state taxes. The bill introduced by Jaitley needs the support of two thirds of members of parliament as well as ratification by state legislatures which is expected to happen by the next session of parliament. Hyderabad, Dec 21 (ANI): Parliamentary Affairs Minister Venkaiah Naidu on Sunday appealed the opposition parties to let the Rajya Sabha function efficiently. He said that the opposition can debate, discuss, decide and oppose the bills proposed but the obstructions tactics needs to be stopped as it is not in interest of people. Further, talking about the conversion or re-conversion issue, Naidu said that people are getting converted voluntarily and that there is nothing wrong if that is happening. If also said that if in any case, force is being used then the state government will take action and if it fails to do the same, the central government will make a law over the same and this needs cooperation by opposition.
