New Delhi, Sep 19 (ANI): BJP on Friday flagged off a batch of doctors for rescue work in flood hit Jammu and Kashmir. BJP's Delhi unit President Satish Upadhyay said that the party is sending a batch of doctors along with vehicles full of medicines donated by various organizations in order to help speed up rescue work in flood hit areas of Jammu and Kashmir. Upadhyay also said that the batch of doctors will be replaced by another batch after 10 days and the practice will continue. Sep 19, 2014

Police gun down Maoist in fierce gun battle in Odisha

Malkangiri, Sep 19 (ANI): Police gunned down a Maoist, who had a bounty of rupees 400 thousand on his head, during a fierce battle in Malkangiri district of Odisha. The Maoist has been identified as Erra Madkami alias Sundhi Dalai. Acting on a tip-off, District Voluntary Force (DVF) personnel launched a combing operation and also recovered arms and ammunition. Inspector General of Police, Yashwant Jethwa said that exchange of fire took place in the forest area near a village. The police recovered a sten gun, a 303 rifle, kitbag, posters, banners, Maoist literature, medicines, and other materials during search operation. Maoists, also known as Naxals, have killed police and politicians, and targeted government buildings and railway tracks in an insurgency that has killed thousands since 1960s. Sep 19, 2014

Rajouri, Sep 11 (ANI): Medical camps were organized to assist flood-affected people as flood water began to recede, giving rescue teams a chance to evacuate thousands of villagers stranded by the heaviest rainfall in 50 years in the heavily militarized and disputed region of Kashmir. The Indian army established medical camps in flood-affected villages to treat injured and sick people and also distributed medicines. Distressed flood victims cry for help as houses collapse in Kashmir

Rajouri, Sep 10 (ANI): Distressed victims of the flood fury in Rajouri district of Kashmir cried for help on Wednesday as they were rendered homeless and heartless with collapsed houses and damaged crops. People of the valley demanded the government to provide free ration and expedite relief operations. On the Indian side of the heavily militarised Line of Control (LoC) that divides the Himalayan region, the city of Srinagar lies submerged along with more than 2,000 villages. Medical camps in Rajouri have been providing first aid and emergency medicines to flood victims. The Indian Air Force air-dropped more than 550 tonnes of relief material and 80 medical teams have established emergency health services in government schools and state-run health care centres.
