India and Bangladesh work together to tackle cross-border crimes

Agartala, Feb 1 (ANI): India shares over 4 thousand km long border with Bangladesh out of which 1,880 km is with the northeast region only. Officials of both India and Bangladesh meet regularly to discuss border issues, including cross-border movement of insurgent outfits. Recently, a 30 member delegation from Bangladesh was in Agartala to attend the India-Bangladesh district magistrate level Joint Border Conference. The delegation included district commissioner cum magistrates, BGB and police officials of 5 bordering districts with southern part of Tripura, while the Tripura team had DCMs, BSF and police officials of 4 bordering districts. Various bi-lateral issues including smuggling, trans-border crimes, insurgency and better border management were discussed during the 2 days. Feb 1, 2015

Attempts on but no successful infiltration till now, situation little tense but under control: BSF I

New Delhi, Jan 30 (ANI): After yet another ceasefire violation by Pakistan along the international borders, BSF Inspector General Aditya Mishra on Friday said that there have been attempts to infiltrate into Indian territory but none have been successful till time. Mishra said that the situation along the border is little tense but are under control. He also said that few civilians were injured due to shelling yesterday and also said that there can be attempts of ceasefire in future. The BSF IG also said that the Army is retaliating efficiently even as the militants are trying to come to the fence. Jan 30, 2015
