Agitated Sugarcane farmers protest in Uttar Pradesh

Meerut/ Muzaffarnagar/ Lucknow, Dec 02 (ANI): Agitated farmers blocked roads in various sugarcane producing districts of Uttar Pradesh demanding re-functioning of sugar mills and clearance of farmers' dues, thereby disrupting normal life. Farmers blocked key routes, including the national highway, after a cane farmer committed suicide that led to violent protest. General Secretary of Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD), Jayant Chaudhary claimed that the agitation was a success. New Delhi, Nov 29 (ANI): The Supreme Court on Friday deferred the hearing on the bail plea of former Bihar chief minister and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, who has been sentenced to five years' rigorous imprisonment in connection with the fodder scam case. Ranchi, Oct 31 (ANI): The Jharkhand High Court on Thursday rejected the bail plea of former Bihar chief minister Lalu Prasad Yadav, who is serving a five-year prison sentence in connection with the multi-crore fodder scam case. The 66-year-old Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief had moved the court on Wednesday, but the latter chose to reserve its order for Thursday after hearing the CBI counsel's objections to granting Lalu bail.
