Goa, May 15 (ANI): The ongoing Mango Festival in Goa drew a huge crowd of visitors from across the country to savor the delicious taste and tempting flavour of the fruit that is rightly dubbed the 'King of Fruits.' The festival which began on May 13, has been organized by the Directorate of Agriculture, Government of Goa and National Horticulture mission and will conclude today. Around 60 varieties were on display, including the Alphonso, Totapuri, Malgoa and Bhishma, besides others. Interactive sessions and seminars were also held by experts who informed people about mango production technologies, ultra high density planting as well as pest and disease management. May 15, 2014

Tokyo, Mar 19 (ANI): To give a fillip to farming, companies like Fujitsu are promoting research to bring in innovation through Information and Communication Technology or ICT. In Shizuoka prefecture, the company runs a project called Akisai, a cloud computing service to support farming. In this greenhouse, various types of environmental data are collected and an appropriate condition is automatically controlled from the computer centre. Since climate change is a big concern in Japan, it is important to control the environment for greenhouse horticulture. The environmental control box is the information gateway to the computer center and is the intelligent operator of the equipment. Siliguri, Feb 14 (ANI): A variety of beauties that bloomed in all their splendour and fragrance at the flower show in Siliguri city of India's eastern West Bengal left visitors spellbound. There are atleast 90 stalls showcasing a vast variety of flowers from different parts of the province and also from the country's northeast region. They range from special orchids of Sikkim to the Cactii of Kalimpong,to name a few. Gerbera, seasonal flowers and different coloured roses also seemed to be attracting the visitors' attention.The programme is in its 29th edition this year. It is being organised by the Siliguri Horticulture Society and the provincial government. This fair is held every year and attracts a large number of visitors. Feb 14, 2014

Krishi Mela highlights the commendable work of farmers and agriculture department in Manipur

Manipur, Jan 31 (ANI): A four-day long state level Krishi Mela was recently organised by the Agricultural Technology Management Agency in collaboration with the State Agriculture Department at the Iboyaima Shumang Leela Shanglen in Imphal. Addressing the event, Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam stressed on the need for the introduction of modern agriculture techniques. Around 37 stalls from concerned departments and progressive farmers showcased their products and achievements. Technical sessions for farmers were also conducted as part of the fair. In the last five to six years, the directorate of Agriculture along with the horticulture Department, Fisheries directorate, Veterinary and Animal Husbandry directorate has been trying to boost production in the state to meet the food demands. Kochi, Jan 17 (ANI): It was a visual treat for nature lovers at the annual flower show in Kochi city of India's southern Kerala province which concluded on a colourful note. The annual flower show, which kicked-off on January 08, saw participation of exhibitors from different parts of India who showcased different varieties of flowers. People were seen enjoying the show and clicking photographs of different varieties of blooming flowers like chrysanthemum, marigold, orchids, etc. The organizers said that nearly 1,500 rose varieties, 1,000 anthurium varieties, 1,000 orchids, dahlia petunia, gerbera and salvia were put on display.
