Capital gears up to host National Children's Film Festival

Mumbai, Nov 9 (ANI): The Children's Film Society of India (CFSI) announced to launch the National Children's Film Festival (NCFF) in a bid to expose youngsters to global cinema. CFSI is an autonomous body under India's Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, founded in 1955, which has been working towards promoting children's films across the globe. The three-day festival will kick start on November 14 at Siri Fort Auditorium in New Delhi, on the occasion of Children's Day celebrated to commemorate the birthday of India's first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru. Films made in India or made by Indian filmmakers will be showcased in the festival. Kumar also said that another aim of this festival was to celebrate childhood through films. The theme for the inaugural edition of NCFF will be ‘Swachhta' (Cleanliness), falling in line with the Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan (Clean India Mission) launched nationwide by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi last month. The festival will also see various other workshops to be held for children including those for film making, dance and music. Bollywood actors like Amitabh Bachchan, Sonakshi Sinha, Ajay Devgan and Salman Khan have come forward to promote the festival. Nov 9, 2014

Harsh Vardhan motivates Delhi to 'walk for health'

New Delhi, Nov 09 (ANI): Union Health Minister, Dr Harsh Vardhan, motivated Delhi to 'walk for health' as he flagged off the third edition of walkathon on Sunday (November 09) in the national capital. The event began early in the morning from the India Gate in New Delhi. The health minister said walking regularly helps to restore life balance, makes people calmer, happier and more positive towards life. The youth today are more under pressure and stress and need to focus on a healthy lifestyle, simple walking can pave the way for one, he said. A number of celebrities, corporate brands and TV networks participated in the event to add to the buzz and energy. CEO of Max Bupa, Manasije Mishra said that this initiative aims to encourage people to have a healthy lifestyle by integrating walking in their daily schedule. Max Bupa Health Insurance Company has organised this health event called 'Max Bupa Walk for Health' in association with news channel 'Times Now'. Thimphu, Nov 09 (ANI): President Pranab Mukherjee on Saturday said the government had doubled the scholarship amount to Bhutanese students during his two-day visit. Bhutanese Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay and other dignitaries were present at the event where Mukherjee unveiled a school project and a 546-km road project with India’s assistance. Addressing a convention in capital Thimphu, Mukherjee said there was a deep confidence and trust between the two countries and people. Three agreements were signed. One between the Royal University of Bhutan and the National Innovation Centre in India, another between the Royal University of Bhutan and the University of English and Foreign Languages in India and the third between the Royal Civil Service Commission and the Indian Institute of Management (IIM). New Delhi, Nov 7 (ANI): Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar, on Friday informed that the government would be organising a three-day National Children Film Festival (NCFF) in New Delhi. Addressing a news briefing, Javadekar said that the government is keen on promoting films for children by facilitating expansion of its reach. Javadekar said that the children's film festival culture was needed to be taken to other cities and states. He said the government would lend support to organising such film festivals. The film festival in the national capital will be held on the theme, 'Swachhta', or cleanliness. 'Rang Rasiya' has been inspired by the real life story of 19th century painter Raja Ravi Varma, known for portraying women in the image of goddess on canvas. It stars Bollywood actor Randeep Hooda and actress Nandana Sen in lead roles. Talking about her character, Nandana said she expects the audience to watch the film with an open mind as the film portrays eroticism. The film has been directed by acclaimed Indian film director Ketan Mehta who had long struggled to get a green signal from Central Board of Film Certification due to portrayal of bold scenes between the lead pair.
