New Delhi, Nov 09 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday finally expanded his Council of Ministers and reshuffled his Cabinet for the first time after taking over as the Prime Minister of India in May. The new ministers took the oath of office at Rashtrapati Bhavan in the presence of the NDA ministers and the prime minister himself. President Pranab Mukherjee administered oath to the ministers as their names were being announced at the grand function. The first to take oath was Manohar Parrikar who is tipped to get the defence portfolio. Following him were Suresh Prabhu, JP Nadda and Ch Birender Singh who took oath as Cabinet Ministers. New Delhi, Nov 09 (ANI): Almost 20 new faces are expected to take oath of office to be a part of the reshuffled Union Cabinet of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Manohar Parrikar, who tendered his resignation as the Chief Minister of Goa on Saturday, is widely expected to bag the post of the next Defence Minister. The BJP Parliamentary Board held a meeting in New Delhi on Saturday to finalize the list of leaders joining the Union Cabinet. Besides Parrikar, party MPs Anurag Thakur, Col. Sonaram Chaudhary and Hansraj Ahir are among those likely to be included in the Cabinet. BJP leaders Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi and Rajiv Pratap Rudy are also expected to be allotted Cabinet berths. Former union minister Yashwant Sinha's son Jayant too is in the race for the Cabinet berth, with reports suggesting that the first-time Hazaribagh MP is being considered as a Minister of State (MoS) for Defence or Finance. Goa CM Manohar Parrikar tenders his resignation

New Delhi, Nov 08 (ANI): Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar has tendered his resignation to take up the post of Union defence minister on Sunday. Parrikar faxed his resignation to Goa governor Mridula Sinha. Sinha is out of station and is likely to arrive in the state in the afternoon in time for the swearing-in ceremony of the new chief minister scheduled at 4:00 PM. The BJP legislative committee is set to meet at noon to decide on the new Goa chief minister and the new leader will be elected at 4:00 in the evening. Parrikar is scheduled to go to Delhi on Saturday evening after the new chief minister takes over the charge. Parrikar will also file his nomination on Monday for Rajya Sabha seat from Lucknow.
