Suresh Prabhu and Ch. Birender Singh files nomination papers for RS seats

Chandigarh, Nov 25 (ANI): Union Ministers Suresh Prabhu and Ch. Birender Singh filed their nomination papers from Haryana on Tuesday. The two ministers were nominated by BJP for by-elections to two Rajya Sabha seats in Haryana. Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and other BJP MLAs were present when the two filed their nominations before Returning Officer Sumit Kumar, who is also the Secretary of Haryana Assembly. Prabhu said that the two will work for the state along with working at the centre and will take Haryana to new heights. However, Singh said that he is used to the works of a Rajya Sabha MP from his past experience. The Election Commission had earlier notified the by-election to the Council of States from Haryana. As per the schedule, the last date for filing nominations is November 25. Nov 25, 2014

New Delhi, Nov 25 (ANI): Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Venkaiah Naidu said on Tuesday that he does not need to give an account of what the government is doing in regard with the black money issue because the entire nation is watching it. Naidu added that he is deeply pained by the behaviour of Congress party in Parliament because they have been the main culprits in accumulating black money abroad and now they are raising issues on the floor of the house saying that the government has not been able to fulfill its 100 days’ promise. Politicos offer last respect to Congress veteran Murli Deora

Mumbai, Nov 24 (ANI): Politicos from various political parties offered their last respect to former union minister and senior Congress leader Murli Deora on Monday at the party office. The 77-year-old Congress leader was suffering from cancer. He breathed his last at 3.25 a.m. in Mumbai. He is survived by his wife and two sons. Several leaders including President Pranab Mukherjee, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Congress President Sonia Gandhi have condoled the demise of the Congress veteran. Deora held several important positions during his decades-long political career. During the UPA-1 regime, Deora was the Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas. The Congress veteran had also served as the Mumbai Congress president for 22 years. He became Minister of State for Communications and Information Technology in July 2011. Nov 24, 2014

Smriti Irani meets Astrologer who says she will become President of India one day

New Delhi/ Bhilwara, Nov 24 (ANI): Controversy cropped up after Union HRD Minister Smriti Irani met astrologer Nathulal Vyas in Bhilwara district of Rajasthan along with her husband Zubin Irani. Smriti spent around four hours with the astrologer asking about her future. The Rajasthan-based astrologer predicted that Irani would become the President of India after five years. Nathulal is the same astrologer who had, in the past, predicted a bright career and big post for Smriti in her political career. When asked on the purpose of her visit, Irani said that media should not interfere in her personal life. She said that if she leads to monetary gains and increase in TRPs for their channels, they can continue to "sensationalize her personal affairs." Nov 24, 2014
