Bilaspur, Nov 23 (ANI): Chhattisgarh Health Minister Amar Agarwal confirmed that medicines used at the mass sterilisation camp were poisonous. Last week at least 15 women died at a government-run family planning camp in Chhattisgarh, where 83 women were sterilised. Raipur, Nov 15 (ANI): The Chhattisgarh Police have sealed the drug company linked to sterilization camp deaths in Chhattisgarh and detained the owner. Mahawar Pharmaceuticals, run from an upscale residential street in capital Raipur, is now at the centre of a probe for more than a dozen deaths in Chhattisgarh after 83 women were sterilized at a government-run family planning camp. More victims arrived at hospitals from villages in Bilaspur district, about 100 km from Raipur, on Thursday and Friday, a doctor at the district's main public hospital said. The factory owners, Sumit and Rajesh Mahawar deny there was anything wrong with their medicines. He added that he is more concerned about the people who have suffered and that justice should be done with those who lost their lives. Bilaspur, Nov 11 (ANI): After eight women lost lives due to sterilisation surgeries went wrong in Bilaspur district of Chhattisgarh, state Chief Minister Raman Singh said that four doctors involved were suspended and a case of criminal offense has been filed against them. Singh also said that the case is of medical negligence by the doctors and will be dealt with seriously by the state government. He also announced compensation of Rs. 4 lakh to families of dead and free medical treatment and Rs.50,000 to those undergoing treatment in hospital. Eight women had died after they underwent sterilisation surgeries at a camp on the outskirts of Bilaspur in Chhattisgarh. The women had been discharged on Saturday after being given medicines.
