Defence Minister pays homage to martyrs in Jammu and Kashmir

Srinagar, Dec 11 (ANI): Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar on Thursday paid tributes to soldiers who were killed in a militant attack in Srinagar. Parrikar, accompanied by Army Chief General Dalbir Singh Suhag, visited Badami Bagh cantonment in the city. This was his first visit to the state after taking charge of the defence ministry. Militants had sneaked into an Indian military camp in Kashmir on December 05, killing 11 soldiers and police, the worst losses for security forces in six years in the Himalayan territory claimed by Pakistan. The attack was followed by a gun battle in the state capital, Srinagar, and a grenade blast in south Kashmir. Dec 11, 2014

Titled '1971 Genocide and Tortures', the exhibition has been organised by Bangladesh National Museum and Genocide and Torture Archive and Museum Trust as the nation observes December as the month of Liberation. The eight-day exhibition aims to illustrate the torture the people of the country were subjected to. It also offers a glimpse into the past to the young generation and helps them learn about the freedom struggle of Bangladesh. Meanwhile, a visitor Fatema Mamun, said the photos at the exhibition reminded her of the days when she lived in constant fear. On display at the exhibition were numerous paintings, photographs, sketches and replicas of artworks by eminent artists of the country to portray the heinous and inhuman torture committed by the Pakistani occupation army and the level of horror faced by the people. Telangana bans Uber cab services after Delhi rape case

Hyderabad, Dec 10 (ANI): Telangana on Wednesday banned the US-based Uber cab services, days after Delhi rape case by a driver employed with the company. The move came after India ordered state governments to halt the operations of all unregistered, web-based taxi companies on Tuesday. In state capital Hyderabad, police officials and the transport authority are stopping taxis and checking them. The move in India was followed by separate government and court actions against Uber in Thailand, Spain and the United States on a variety of issues. A representative for Uber said the company had not been officially notified of any ban in New Delhi and would issue a statement. Pakistan bound bus meets with accident in Jalandhar

Jalandhar, Dec 10 (ANI): A bus commuting between India's national capital and Pakistani city of Lahore met with minor accident. However, no one is injured. The Pakistan-bound bus collided with a police vehicle on national highway number 1 and two personnel of police received injuries. The accident took place in Kapurthala district near Jalandhar city of Punjab. Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Mukesh Kumar said total 18 passengers including five females and 13 males were travelling in the bus.
