Jharkhand, Dec 12 (ANI): Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Friday addressed a rally in Baghmara district of Jharkhand. Singh attacked the former Congress government for increasing inflation with every passing year of its rule. Singh said that the new government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi is working towards the development of the country which is why he took the initiative of opening bank accounts for all citizens. Govt approves Rs 5 lakh compensation for 1984 riot victims' kin

New Delhi, Dec 11 (ANI): The Government has approved a compensation of Rs. 5 lakh each to the kin of victims of the 1984 anti-Sikh riots. The decision was taken by the Union Cabinet at a meeting led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. According to reports, the amount is an additional compensation which will be given to the families of the riot victims apart from what they have so far received from the government and other agencies. Over 3,000 victims of the 1984 violence, triggered by the assassination of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, are likely to benefit from the government's announcement. Politicos on government removing section 309 from IPC

New Delhi, Dec 10 (ANI): The Home Ministry on Wednesday informed Parliament that the government has decided to delete section 309 of the Indian Penal Code which criminalises attempt to suicide. The Centre also said that 18 states and four union territories have supported deleting Sec 309. The move was recommended by the Law Commission along with amendment of certain other sections of the CrPC and IPC in consultation with all stake holders. Many politicos backed the decision. PM Modi pays tribute to C Rajagopalachari on his 136th birth anniversary

New Delhi, Dec 10 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday paid tributes to freedom fighter, scholar and thinker C Rajagopalachari (Rajaji) on his 136th birth anniversary. The Prime Minister took to twitter to pay his tributes to Rajaji. He tweeted saying, "I offer my tributes to the great freedom fighter, scholar and thinker par excellence, Shri C Rajagopalachari on his birth anniversary. Rajaji was known for his administrative and political skills as well as for his literary and cultural pursuits. A remarkable personality!" he added. Born in 1878, Rajagopalachari was the last Governor-General of India. He also served as the Union Minister for Home Affairs, Premier of the Madras Presidency, Chief Minister of Madras State and Governor of West Bengal. Dec 10, 2014
