New Delhi, Feb 8 (ANI): President Pranab Mukherjee on Sunday met delegates of Heads of Indian Mission. The president while addressing the delegates said that for the first time on day of swearing-in of the new Ministry by President, Prime Minster Narendra Modi decided he would invite all heads of state in SAARC countries. Mukherjee added that with this, subsequent series of initiatives had been taken till then. He added that the institutional arrangements of converting the globe into a global village have been initiated and those days are gone when balance of power was the most important element in foreign policies of the countries. Islamabad/ Peshawar, Feb 07 (ANI): Pakistan said it wanted the Afghan government and the United Nation's refugee agency UNHCR to encourage Afghan refugees still living in Pakistan to return to their homeland as soon as possible. According to UNHCR country profile for 2015, Pakistan still hosts almost 1.5 million registered Afghan refugees, the largest protracted refugee population globally, that have fled decades of conflict in neighboring Afghanistan. Since 2002, UNHCR has facilitated the return of 3.8 million registered Afghans from Pakistan. Pakistan Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Tasnim Aslam said the main group of 'people of concern' was the unregistered refugees who, because of their illegal status, could easily fall prey to terrorists. It happens : Caparisoned elephants attract visitors to temple festival

Kerala, Feb 6 (ANI): : Domestic and foreign tourists thronged Kerala state for annual temple festival to see caparisoned elephants and traditional colourful dance. The temple festival, ‘Thaipooyam’, was celebrated with religious pageantry at Koorkancherry Sree Maheswara Temple in Thrissur district amid drum beats and procession. Main attractions of the festival were decorated elephants and traditional dance, ‘Kavadis’, which enthralled the visitors. People of the region revelled in the celebrations as other temples and houses were also decorated. Thaipooyam festival is celebrated in the name of Lord Subrahmanya, son of Hindu god Shiva. On this day, special rituals are also organised. Another major attraction was ‘Kavadiattam’ or dancing with floral arrangements made on wooden frames.
