Jorhat hosts national amateur muay-thai kick boxing championship

Jorhat, July 30 (ANI): Around 130 participants from 18 states of the country participated at the 9th National Amateur Muay-Thai kick boxing championship in Jorhat. In the three-day event organized by all Assam amateur Muay Thai and Fair sports Club of India, participants from the age group of 6 to 22 competed in different categories. Muay Thai is a combat sport from the Muay martial arts of Thailand that uses stand-up striking along with various clinching techniques. Manipuris want bollywood biopic on boxer Mary Kom to be released in the state

Manipur, July 30 (ANI): Theatres in Manipur have not screened any Hindi film since the year 2000, following the imposition of a ban by the outlawed Revolutionary People's Front (RPF). Because of this ban, cinema houses in the state may not screen a biopic on boxer M.C. Mary Kom, which is set be released in theaters across the country on September 5. The film starring Priyanka Chopra traces Mary's life from her humble roots to her achieving several world titles. Produced by well known Bollywood director Sanjay Leela Bhansali, the film is directed by Omung Kumar. Film enthusiasts in Manipur want the film to be screened in the state. Mary Kom, who also runs a boxing academy in Manipur, is an inspiration for budding sportspersons in the state. They wish to watch the biopic on the boxing legend. Jul 30, 2014

Mumbai, July 24 (ANI): Bollywood diva Priyanka Chopra launched the trailer of her upcoming biopic drama film _Mary Kom_ on Wednesday along with director Sanjay Leela Bhansali and producer Omung Kumar in India_s showbiz capital, Mumbai. Priyanka, who will be seen playing the role of boxer Mary Kom in the film, came up on the stage donning a boxing robe. Calling it the hardest film of her career, she said she drew inspiration from Olympic boxing champion Kom herself. Meanwhile, producer of the film, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, said Mary Kom is an inspiration for all generations. The film is slated to release on 5th September 2014. Jul 24, 2014
