Textile industry expects tax cuts in upcoming budget

Surat, Feb 11 (ANI): Manufacturers in textile industry in Gujarat expect tax cuts from the Central government in upcoming budget to help the industry come out of crisis. Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley will on February 28 present his first full-year budget, seeking to put Asia's third-largest economy on a path of 7-8 percent growth over the next two years. In Surat, industrialists said they were facing crisis due to rise in prices of raw materials like yarn and colour chemicals. A favourable budget will being relief for one-and-a-half million people associated with the industry, he added. Vakharia also hoped for relaxation in prices of acquiring land. Investors and manufacturers have long advocated the GST as a way to simplify taxes while broadening the tax base, adding as much as 2 percentage points to economic growth in India. Feb 11, 2015

US couple adopts 2-year-old girl with rare blood disorder in Maharashtra

Aurangabad, Feb 11 (ANI): Setting an example, an American couple adopted a two-year-old girl suffering from a rare blood disorder from an adoption centre in Maharashtra. This is the first adoption of a special child by a foreign couple in Aurangabad. The Society for Adoption, Knowledge, Awareness and Resource (Sakar) houses 39 other children with congenital, mental or physical deformities. Sandhya's new mother, Andrea Knepper, who already has two biological children, (two sons - 11 and 9 years old), said it was her wish to adopt a girl from India as her grandfather belonged to the country. Though Indian couples have off late been enthusiastic about adoption of girl children, many people still do not have a positive approach towards adopting disabled children. Feb 11, 2015

India expects more than 600 global armament majors at defence exhibition

New Delhi, Feb 10 (ANI): India is expecting participation of more than 600 global armament majors at the five-day defence exhibition, showing their state-of-art-technology, said an official. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate Aero-India 2015, one of the largest premium air shows in Asia, in Bengaluru city on February 18 with aim to attract investment in the country. Modi's 'Make in India' initiative is the major theme for the exhibition. The initiative has been launched to boost industrial production by inviting foreign as well as domestic investment and cutting red tape.
