Delhi University students on a tour to explore northeast region

Guwahati, Jan 12 (ANI): The Dharohar-Gyanodaya Express train, carrying 870 students and teachers of Delhi University set off on an educational tour to the Northeast on December 18 in an endeavor to expose the students to the rich culture and heritage of the region. The train was flagged off from Safdarjung Railway station by Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju and Union Minister of state for Sports and Youth Affairs Sarbananda Sonowal. Started in 2012 as the ‘College-on-Wheels' project, this is the fifth edition of the Gyanodaya Express that will cover all the 8 northeastern states and conclude on December 29. The train first arrived in Guwahati from where the students, divided into 9 groups, were taken to various parts of the Northeast. During the 7-day long trip, the students did a variety of sightseeing activities, interacted with the locals and worked on a specific project related to the Northeast. Jan 12, 2015

Security arrangements and traffic management in place ahead of PM Modi's 'Abhinandan Rally'

New Delhi, Jan 10 (ANI): Security was tightened around the Ramlila Ground on Saturday in view of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's rally at the venue in the national capital. The Delhi Traffic Police have also made elaborate arrangements to ensure the smooth movement of traffic. Modi is to address "Abhinandan Rally" which will be attended by around 1 lakh people. PM will formally kick off BJP's campaign for the upcoming Delhi Assembly polls on Saturday at the mega rally. Top leaders including BJP president Amit Shah, Union ministers Arun Jaitely, M Venkaiah Naidu and Piyush Goyal will attend the rally. Besides, chief ministers of Haryana, Jharkhand and Maharashtra will share the dais with the prime minister. The traffic police has advised commuters going to New Delhi Railway Station, Old Delhi Railway Station and ISBT to start early with sufficient time in hand for absorbing possible delays in the routes. New Delhi, Jan 08 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Subramanian Swamy on Thursday said it is now time for former union minister and Congress leader Shashi Tharoor to speak the truth in the case of her wife Sunanda Pushkar Tharoor's death. According to reports, Delhi Police had earlier on Wednesday issued a legal notice to Shashi Tharoor asking him to join the murder probe of his wife Sunanda Pushkar at the earliest. Coal Minister says coal workers have called off their strike

State-owned Coal India Limited struggled to produce and ship less than half of its daily target on the first day of a five-day worker strike that began on Tuesday (January 06), hampering government efforts to reform the country's coal industry and ease its power crisis.
