Bahrain Foreign Minister meets Indian PM Modi in New Delhi

New Delhi, Feb 24 (ANI): Bahrain Foreign Minister, Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohamed Al Khalifa, met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi. Khalifa had arrived in the country on February 22 on an invitation by his Indian counterpart Sushma Swaraj. He co-chaired the first meeting of the India-Bahrain High Joint Commission with Swaraj. Khalifa also extended a letter of invitation to Modi to visit Bahrain on behalf of Prime Minister, Khalifa Bin Salman Al Khalifa. The Foreign Minister recalled the deep emotional bonds of friendship that are felt by the people of Bahrain towards India and also conveyed the commitment of the Government of Bahrain to deepen bilateral relations, including in the areas of defence, security, counter terrorism, trade and investment. Director Pawel Pawlikowski's film, about a novitiate nun who learns she is a Jewish orphan, earned the country its first Academy Award in 10 total nominations in the category. "Ida" has won Britain's BAFTA for best foreign film, and top film, director, screenplay, cinematography and audience honors at the European Film Awards. Muthappan Mahotsavam, a two-day festival held at a Kochi temple, attracted Theyyam enthusiasts from across the state. Foreign tourists and artistes also converged at the temple to witness the "dance of the deities". The festival aims to promote ritual folk art form among city dwellers. The word 'Theyyam' is considered a derivation of the word Daivam, meaning God. Father Alexis thanks PM, government for his release

New Delhi, Feb 23 (ANI): Indian national, Father Alexis Prem Kumar Ananthaswamy, who was abducted in Afghanistan, thanked the government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his release after his arrival in New Delhi. The 47-year-old Jesuit priest was kidnapped by unknown gunmen from Herat in June last year and was being held as a captive. However, he refused to divulge his experience in captivity. Sushma Swaraj meets Bahrain foreign minister in New Delhi

New Delhi, Feb 23 (ANI): Foreign Minister of Bahrain, Khalid Bin Ahmed Bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, arrived in New Delhi at the invitation of his Indian counterpart Sushma Swaraj. Khalifa co-chaired the first meeting of the India-Bahrain High Joint Commission with Swaraj. During the meeting both the leaders discussed issues of common interest including militancy. In a tweet, MEA spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin said “India-Bahrain Ministers discuss issues of common interest in 1st meeting of High Joint Commission in Delhi.” He further tweeted “Terror on top of agenda as Minister @SushmaSwaraj discusses regional situation with counterpart from Bahrain.” India and Bahrain are known to share cordial relations marked by regular high level political exchanges. New Delhi, Feb 22 (ANI): Union Foreign Minister, Sushma Swaraj assured the tense family members of Indian nationals stranded in Iraq that the government was putting in all the efforts to bring them back.
