Mumbai, Jan 5 (ANI): Bollywood actor Abhishek Bachchan recently inaugurated a basketball court at a school in India's showbiz capital Mumbai stressing on the need to make sports part of educational curriculum. He has been championing the importance of sports ever since he co-owned a football team, Chennaiyin FC, and a western Jaipur city based pro-league kabbadi team, 'Jaipur Pink Panthers', which also won the inaugural tournament. He talked about his love for basketball which he played as a former student of the same school and said that sports could be a viable career option. He also urged the schools across the country to improve sports infrastructure to nurture children's sports skills. He also displayed his basketball skills as he hit the court with the students. New Delhi/Kanpur, Jan 5 (ANI): As cold wave continues to lash northern India, train traffic remained disrupted in the region on Monday due to thick blanket of fog. As night temperature plunged further at several places in the region, people who work outdoors were seen seeking warmth from bonfires and hot tea from roadside stalls. In the national capital, New Delhi, passengers at the railway stations complained of long delays in the scheduled timings of trains. Dense fog affected the train traffic in northern Kanpur city as well, where light rains added to the woes of the passengers. Karachi, Jan 03 (ANI): As many as fifty Hindu couples tied nuptial knot at a mass wedding ceremony in Pakistan's commercial capital Karachi. Donned in traditional wedding garments, the couples arrived for their big day as several hundred Hindu families gathered to attend the wedding ceremony held at the YMCA Ground in the city. The mass ceremony was organized by a non-governmental organisation, the Pakistan Hindu Council (PHC), for the couples who could not afford their marriage expenses. They tied the nuptial knot with the assistance of the community. Groom, Anil Kumar from Karachi, said he chose to get married in a mass wedding because his family was poor. Bride Usha Bai said her poor parents had to marry off three of her sisters earlier and they had been unable to afford her wedding expenses. Tourists rejoice as Shimla gets fresh spell of snow

Shimla, Jan 03 (ANI): Kufri hill station in Himachal Pradesh turned into a picturesque landscape as it received fresh snowfall bringing much delight to tourists. The higher reaches, including Narkanda, Kharapathar, Sangla, Pangi, Rohthang, and Kelong, received about 15 centimeters of snowfall, while mid and lower hills witnessed widespread rains plummeting the temperatures. A large number of tourists were seen enjoying the weather. Some of them were excited to see the thick blanket of snow in surrounding areas for the first time. Met Director of Himachal Pradesh, Manmohan Singh, said maximum temperature dropped by four points to seven degrees Celsius across the state following fresh snowfall.
