BSE closes points 17.47 up on August 25

New Delhi, August 25 (ANI): Trading at the Bombay Stock Exchange today closed 17.47 points up to stand at 26,437.02. At the National Stock Exchange the Nifty closed 6.90 points down to stand at 7,906.30. EMAMI LTD. and MAX were among the top gainers of Group A with an increase of 6.27% and 4.47% along with INDIAN HOTELS CO.LTD. and TTKPRESTIGE with an increase of 3.07% and 2.77% respectively, while the top losers of Group A include JINDAL STEEL and POWER LTD. and HINDALCO with a decrease of 15.14% and 9.91% along with NATIONALUM and TATASTEEL with a decrease of 6.89% and 5.20% at the close of the markets. The Auto sector is up 59.51 points at 17,093.78 while the banking sector is down 161.80 points at 17,950.03 and the reality sector is down 36.62 points at 1,785.85. Oommen Chandy ready to compensate on revenue loss to Kerala due to liquor ban

Thiruvananthapuram, Aug 23 (ANI): Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said ban on liquor policy in the state can prove to be a loss to the government but he is willing to overcome it. The Congress-led government in Kerala announced on Thursday that it would make Kerala alcohol-free in the next 10 years. The proposal was taken at a two-hour meeting at the chief minister’s residence. Chandy said the new policy will be applicable for the five-star hotels serving liquor from the next fiscal. Chandy added the policy will be submitted to the Kerala High Court on August 26. Chandy said the ban could cause three-fold problems to the state. The state Finance Minister KM Mani said the loss of revenue to the state due to the ban calculated for the upcoming fiscal is 1,811 crore rupees. Aug 23, 2014

Incidents of rape cost billions to tourism industry, says Finance Minister

New Delhi, Aug 21 (ANI): Finance Minister Arun Jaitley took on rapes terming country_s tourist sector as _underachieved_ and said such incidents have cost billions of dollars to the tourism industry. While addressing a conference of state tourism ministers in New Delhi on Thursday Jaitley said that due to several reasons, including rapes and law and order situation, the tourism sector is not blooming as much as it should. Jaitley focused on the massive potential India has in tourism and said due to presence of mountains, rivers, forests, beaches, historical monuments, and metro cities in the subcontinent, the country should be overcrowded with tourists. He also said that India_s domestic transport system - roads and railways - and international transport is not upto the mark and needs to be improved tremendously. BSE closes points 361.53 up on August 12

New Delhi, August 12 (ANI): Trading at the Bombay Stock Exchange today closed 361.53 points up to stand at 25,880.77. At the National Stock Exchange the Nifty closed 101.10 points up to stand at 7,727.05. Eicher Motors and RAMCOCEM were among the top gainers of Group A with an increase of 8.40% and 8.30% along with Gail India and Tata Motors with an increase of 5.83% and 5.72% respectively, while the top losers of Group A include Bhushan Steel and Neyveli Lignite with a decrease of 9.98% and 6.49% along with Indian Hotels and Mangalore Refinery with a decrease of 5.96% and 5.28% at the close of the markets. The Auto sector is up 282.19 points at 16,238.89 while the banking sector is up 240.43 points at 17,237.63 and the reality sector is up 19.07 points at 1,875.74.
