New Delhi, Feb 14 (ANI): Visitors thronged India's first national tribal festival 'Vanaj', featuring around 900 artists across the country in New Delhi. The five-day event is being organised by the government to conserve and promote the distinctive cultures of the tribal by providing them a national platform. Tribal Affairs Minister, Jual Oram, urged media to given them adequate coverage. The carnival will run till February 18, showcasing the rich diversity in tribal art and culture. Authorities step up measures to combat swine flu in Gujarat

Ahmedabad, Feb 12 (ANI): Authorities in Gujarat stepped up measures to combat the fatal H1N1 virus as swine flu cases rose across the state. In Ahmedabad, arrangements for separate wards, beds, adequate medical supplies, including Tamiflu medicines, have been made in hospitals. People are being educated on preventive measures and have been instructed to wear masks, wash their hands frequently, besides sanitizing the environment. Superintendent of a government hospital, M Prabhakar said that 84 new swine flu cases were reported and 240 cases had been treated till now. The virus has killed 191 people in the country in January alone, with southern Telangana being the worst hit state. So far, 2,038 people have been afflicted by the virus in India. Feb 12, 2015

Warangal, Feb 11 (ANI): Over 200 students of a government school in Warangal district of Telangana fell sick after consuming free folic acid tablets distributed at a swine flu prevention camp in their school on Tuesday. Reportedly, around 700 students of different age groups took the tablets at their school camp. They were also given homeopathic medicines under the ongoing anti-swine flu drive, undertaken by the Telangana government. After lunch many students complained of nausea, stomach ache and started writhing in pain. Shrill cries of the students and anxious parents created panic in the district hospital. Meanwhile, Warangal Collector V Karuna said that all the students were safe and under care of a team of doctors. Andhra Pradesh reports two swine flu deaths & at least 24 positive cases

Visakhapatnam, Jan 30 (ANI): Two swine flu deaths and 24 positive cases were reported from Andhra Pradesh, the state administration informed. Provincial Minister for Information and Public Relations (I& PR) Palle Raghunatha Reddy said that the government was monitoring the situation in port city Visakhapatnam. He added that government had taken various steps to check the spread of the virus and awareness campaign for the swine flu were increased. The minister said a state-level cabinet meeting of medical officials and doctors was held at King George Hospital of Visakhapatnam. Steps like arrangement for isolation rooms, providing adequate medicines and other materials are being taken. Swine flu is caused by H1N1 virus.
