Politicos call for adequate law & order in Delhi as police constable shot dead by Liquor Mafia

New Delhi, Jan 13 (ANI): Political leaders on Tuesday called for adequate law and order situation in Delhi as a Delhi Police constable was shot dead by an unidentified assailant and another died after a truck rammed a Police Control Room (PCR) Van in East Delhi's Mayur Vihar around midnight. AAP leader Manish Sisodia said that Delhi needs a stable government which takes care of the national capital, its police force and others. He said that the Delhi Police and their conditions need to be improved and that this can be done only once AAP comes to power. He also demanded compensation to family of the dead constable. NCP leader Tariq Anwar also said that there should be an operation launched in this regard and such elements should be removed. Jan 13, 2015

Plummeting temperatures in Kashmir boost sales of woolen garments

Srinagar, Jan 13 (ANI): As the cold wave continued unabated in Jammu and Kashmir and temperatures dropped below zero, residents thronged to shops selling woolen garments to keep themselves warm. Kashmir valley is in the midst of 40-day-long Chillai Kalan, believed to be the harshest winter period which had begun on December 21, 2014. The sale of the woolen wear has increased manifold due to plummeting temperatures. Residents in capital Srinagar are forced to stay indoors due to persistent cold wave conditions. And with mercury dipping, customers are lured with a variety of sweaters and jackets. Weather in the valley remains dry and cold as it did not receive much snowfall. On Sunday, world leaders including Muslim and Jewish statesmen linked arms to lead more than a million French citizens through the French capital to pay tribute to victims of Islamist militant attacks. President Francois Hollande and leaders from Germany, Italy, Israel, Turkey, Britain and the Palestinian territories among others, moved off from the central Place de la Republique ahead of a sea of French and other flags. At least 3.7 million people took part in silent marches throughout France, the biggest public demonstration ever registered in the country. A total of 1.2 million to 1.6 million marched in Paris and a further 2.5 million in other cities, the Interior Ministry said.
