Rajnath Singh meets Bangladesh official ahead of home secretary level talks

New Delhi, Feb 17 (ANI): Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday (February 17) met Bangladesh's Senior Secretary of Home Affairs, Md. Mozammel Haque Khan in New Delhi ahead of Home Secretary level talks between the two countries. Khan will meet India's new Home Secretary LC Goyal later in the day to hold talks on issues like cross-border movements of people and goods, border cooperation in counter-terror initiatives. India's links with Bangladesh are civilisational, cultural, social and economic. On February 14, Singh had visited border areas of Tripura to review the progress of fencing work. India is fencing its border with Bangladesh. The two countries share a 4,096 kilometre long border, largely porous. Feb 17, 2015

New Delhi, Feb 17 (ANI): Sri Lankan Health Minister, Rajitha Senaratne, on Tuesday called on Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju on the delegation’s visit to strengthen bilateral ties. Senaratne and Rijiju shook hands and exchanged gifts as they were accompanied by delegations of both sides in New Delhi. As per reports, Senaratne had met his Indian counterpart Jagat Prakash Nadda on Monday discussed issues regarding cooperation between the two neighbours in the health sector. Students in Guwahati protest against outsiders writing exams for government jobs

Guwahati, Feb 15 (ANI): Police in Guwahati city detained hundreds of activists on Sunday protesting against students from outside writing exams for recruitment in government jobs. The protest was organised by a powerful students organization, the All Assam Students’ Union (AASU). Police in large numbers stopped the protesters from preventing students from appearing in exams held for the recruitment in railway police. The AASU has for long been demanding justice for the people of Assam and northeast besides demanding quota for jobs. There have been media reports that not even a single person from the northeast was recruited during the drive for filling up posts of 1,000 sub-inspectors and 17,000 constables in earlier exams.
