Supporters of Awami League take to street against Jamaat strike

Dhaka, Nov 5 (ANI): Supporters of Bangladesh ruling Awami League party took to street on Wednesday against the strike called by Jamaat-e-Islami. Jamaat had called a three-day strike to protest against the death sentence pronounced by the court for their party chief accused of committing war crimes. Awami League Party Leader Mofazzal Hossain Maya said that Bengali community has rejected the strike in support of the court’s decision. Bangladesh's Supreme Court on Monday upheld the death penalty for an Islamist leader over atrocities committed during the country's war of independence from Pakistan more than four decades ago. West Bengal: One dead, four injured in TMC-BJP clash

Birbhum, Oct 27 (ANI): In a clash between the BJP and TMC workers, one person is reportedly killed and 4 injured in Birbhum district of West Bengal on Monday. Out of the four injured who sustained bullet injuries, the condition of two is reportedly critical. The Rapid Action Force (RAF) has been deployed in the Makra village, where the violence took place. Many villagers have also reportedly fled the area. The violence comes days after assailants hurled bombs at three policemen, including the officer-in-charge of a West Bengal police station, in Birbhum last week. Villagers attack policemen in Birbhum

Birbhum/ Kolkata, Oct 25 (ANI): Villagers in Birbhum district of West Bengal attacked policemen and their vehicle on Friday, while state administration alleges that the attack was politically motivated. The assailants who attacked the police were armed with crude bombs, batons and other arms. The police reportedly fired few rounds in air to disperse the attacking mob. Regional Trinamool Congress Party leader Anubrata Mondal had earlier alleged that the state BJP workers were behind the attack on the police in Birbhum. Army firing range of 'Tosa Maidan' in Kashmir to be transformed into tourist resort

Budgam, Oct 23 (ANI): The famous meadows of Kashmir's 'Tosa Maidan,' till recently used as a firing range of the Indian Army echoing with gunshots, will soon be transformed into a spot of tourist attraction. Tosa Maidan, also known as the 'King of Meadows', is situated in the Pir Panjal range in Budgam district. Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Omar Abdullah, said that the Army's lease for the field firing range in Tosa Maidan in Budgam district will not be renewed. Tosa Maidan was leased to Indian Army for setting up a firing range in 1964. Named 'Operation Fallah' the Army has totally cleared off the unexploded shells and transformed the Tosa Maidan into a clear zone of meadows and forested area within a record time span of three months.
