Priyanka Chopra hopes for success of her film on boxer Mary Kom

Mumbai, Sep 07 (ANI): Bollywood diva Priyanka Chopra had her fingers crossed over commercial success of her latest film, which is a biopic based on the life of Indian boxer, Mary Kom. "Mary Kom" released in cinemas across India on Friday (September 05). The movie was premiered in Toronto. Priyanka has had roles in some big budget franchises such as "Krrish" and "Don" and has also won plaudits for playing role like an autistic woman in the film "Barfi". But it is her portrayal of Olympic medalist and five-time World Amateur Boxing champion Mary Kom, which has proved to be the biggest task as an actor so far. Chopra said playing the role of a living, breathing person of nearly her own age has been the greatest challenge of her acting career so far and she learnt the lesson of never give up during the course of shooting of Mary Kom. Commonwealth games medalists felicitated

New Delhi/Imphal, Aug 27 (ANI): Medal winners of the recently concluded Glasgow Commonwealth games were recently felicitated by Ministry of Sports at a function at Vigyan Bhawan in Capital New Delhi. Union Sports Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, Union Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju and former cricketer Sachin Tendulkar handed over the memento and prize money to the award winning players. India finished at the 5th position by winning 64 medals. The Manipur government also felicitated the commonwealth games participants from the state in a function at Khuman Lampak Sports Complex in Imphal. While weightlifting gold medalist Sanjita Khumukcham received Rs.15 Lakh, bronze medal winner in Judo Kalpana Thoudam received Rs.8 lakh. 6 silver medalists- Mirabai Saikhom Chanu in weight lifting, Sushila Likmabam in Judo, Sarita Laishram and Devendro Laishram in boxing and Kangujam Chinglensana and Kotharjit Kadangbam in hockey received Rs 10 lakh each. Boxer Manoj Kumar moves HC over Arjuna Award, next hearing on Aug 28

New Delhi, Aug 26 (ANI): Indian Boxer and World Boxing Champion Manoj Kumar has filed a petition in the High Court regarding the selection of sportspersons for giving Arjuna Award. Kumar has alleged that he is a world champion and has achieved more points than the person selected for Arjuna Award. Lawyer Rahul Mehra said that the petition has challenged the basis on which sportspersons are recognized for awards and also the committee which selects them. The next hearing will be on August28. They conducted raids and attacked cinema halls showing Hindi films.They have been fighting for a separate independent socialist state of Manipur.
