Real estate sector witnesses a growth in Assam

Guwahati, Dec 10 (ANI): Guwahati city in Assam is a growing hub for trade and commerce activity in the Northeast. And, this has opened up new vistas for the real estate industry. Shopping malls, showrooms, apartments and hotels - the changing face of the city has made it a favorite destination for investors. Real estate developers are venturing in to the city to tap the potential. In recent years, the city, like most of the other bigger cities in the country has witnessed a sharp rise in the demand for flats, both for residential and commercial purpose. A large number of real estate developers, including from abroad, are eying to develop housing and commercial infrastructure in Assam. They participated in a recently concluded four-day long Realty summit. Organized by the Assam Real Estate and Infrastructure Developers' Association (AREIDA), it invited experts from various infrastructure development related fields to discuss wide range of issues. Police rescue bonded labourers from brick kiln in Mirzapur

Gaya, Dec 05 (ANI): Nearly 149 bonded labourers, including women and children, rescued from a brick kiln in Uttar Pradesh, were brought to their home district in Bihar. Police rescued them from a brick kiln in Mirzapur district and were brought to Gaya district by the Bihar government. They would be sent to their native villages. The government assured that action would be taken against those involved in the crime. More than 12 million children below the age of 14 are working as domestic servants or other jobs such as in stone quarries, embroidery units, mining, carpet-weaving, tea stalls, restaurants and hotels, according to the government data. An engineer working on restoration, Nayeem Ahmad, said the damaged walls need to be repaired soon as the tourists feel unsafe to walk besides the lake. The tourism industry has again picked up after the disaster as tourists from across the world have started visiting the valley. The damaged parapet walls of the Dal Lake are making it difficult for tourists to enjoy the beauty as the walls made for sitting purpose can break anytime. Kerala HC upholds ban on Liquor, at least 700 bars to be shut

Kochi, Oct 30 (ANI): Kerala High court on Thursday upheld the state government's ban on liquor in the state. The state government had earlier put a ban on bars serving liquor in the state and has said that only bars in four and five star hotels would still be permitted to function, effectively sealing the fate of at least 700 bars in the state for now. Through the abkari policy, the state government had limited sale of liquor to five-star bar hotels and government-run retail outlets. Bar owners in Kerala had earlier approached the court challenging the government's decision to close over 700 bar hotels in the state, maintaining that it was discriminatory. Oct 30, 2014
