Mujibur, or Mujib as he was popularly called, was killed along with most of his family members in a 1975 revolt by young army officers. One of his two surviving daughters, Sheikh Hasina, is now the country's prime minister. The city streets are full of posters and banners bearing Rahman’s photographs.
