Fire in Connaught Place building, fire tenders rushed to spot

New Delhi, Aug 25 (ANI): A fire broke out on the first floor of Rama Building in Delhi's Connaught Place area on Monday. About 10-15 fire tenders reached the spot to douse the fire. Mumbai, Aug 18 (ANI): Hundreds of devotees on Monday celebrated Gokulashtami also named Janmashtami, the birth of Lord Krishna, and participated in the event of _Dahi Handi_ and formed human pyramid to the tunes of Govinda Aalare Aala in Mumbai city of Maharashtra. The event involves creating a human pyramid and breaking the Handi that contains curd. Devotees were heard chanting Hare Krishna, Hare Rama. This time the organisers used the technique of rock climbing to prevent any untoward incident. It is believed that Lord Krishna was born at the midnight hours. Ram Gopal Varma, who recently got lots of criticism for Ice Cream announced that he is coming up with Ice Cream 2. The director said that the movie was made on a limited budget and used new technology. According to our source, the budget of the film was below 5 lakhs and none of the technicians and artistes received any remuneration. Once the film was released, everybody was to share the revenue. The producer announced that the film was a huge hit and in two days it fetched around Rs 86 lakhs. On Wednesday, the producer Rama Satyanarayana, presented all the technicians and the artistes, including Ram Gopal Varma, their remuneration in front of the media. Train fare hike effective from today, passengers demand justifiable services

Ahmedabad/Bhopal/ Hyderebad/ Chandigarh, June 25 (ANI): Passengers gave mixed reaction as the 14.2 percent increase in rail passenger fare and 6.5 percent hike in freight rates is to be effective from Wednesday. While some oppose the hike, thinking that the hike should justify the railway services, others think that it was necessary considering the loss the raliway was running at. A passenger from Ahmedabad in Gujarat, Rajesh Rana said that the hike should have been brought in stages and the sudden hike is unaffordable. Another passenger, Navinder Singh opposed the hike citing the deplorable state of services provided by the Indian railways including drinking water and cleanliness issues. India's railway network is one of the world's largest, but years of low investment and populist policies to subsidize fares at affordable levels have crimped growth in new lines.
