Video captures violent explosion as van rams into parked vehicle in China

A dramatic blast in eastern China has been captured on video, showing a van hit a parked semi-trailer on a highway near Hangzhou in Zhejian province. The accident took place early on Monday (17 July), Chinas state broadcaster CCTV reported. Surveillance footage showed the van taking a bend and brushing against the parked truck on the shoulder of the highway. Liu Xiaobo, Chinese dissident who won the Nobel Peace Prize while in prison, dies at age 61

Liu Xiaobo, Chinas most high-profile dissident, has died aged 61. Liu played a central role in the 1989 Tiananmen Square protests. Later, he spent 21 months in prison. He also lost his job as a lecturer and his books were banned. He was most recently arrested in 2008 for initiating Charter 08, a petition calling for democracy and an end to censorship. He was convicted for inciting subversion and sentenced to 11 years in prison. In 2010 he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize while locked away. Liu was diagnosed with terminal liver cancer in May. Under international pressure, the Chinese government allowed Liu to go on medical parole, but under constant surveillance. Minneapolis police officer shoots two Staffordshire Bull Terriers in owners backyard

A familys surveillance cameras have captured the moment a Minneapolis police officer shot and injured two dogs in their backyard. Jennifer LeMay posted the video on Facebook. It appears to show the police officer enter her backyard on July 8 and look around, before drawing his firearm and shooting two Staffordshire Bull Terriers. Both animals were taken to a vet, and are expected to survive. The Minneapolis Police Department is now investigating the incident. Jul 10, 2017
