Kufri, Jan 09 (ANI): An early spell of snowfall in Kufri this year has brought cheers to the small business community. Nestled in hills, Kufri in Himachal Pradesh has been attracting a steady stream of visitors after temperatures plummeted to zero levels. One of the preferred tourist destinations for people from plains, Kufri has reported a significant jump in tourist numbers. Locals are happy as all sectors linked to tourism industry are doing well. Tourists, both domestic and foreign, have been thronging Kufri since a thick blanket of snow enveloped the hills. Travel agent, Kuldeep Sharma, said the rush of tourists has boosted the revenues of hotels and small traders. Siliguri, Dec 31 (ANI): Two people died in a late night fire at a hotel in Siliguri city of West Bengal on Wednesday (December 31). The fire broke out at around 1.00 am (1930 GMT) when the hotel guests were sleeping in their rooms. The fire fighters managed to rescue few people, who were immediately rushed to a local government hospital for treatment. The cause of the fire was not ascertained immediately. Officials say there has been a significant rush this year with both domestic and foreign tourists visiting Shimla and nearby tourist destinations of Kullu, Manali and Kufri. Tourists, mostly from southern and northern states, visit Shimla to enjoy the cold weather.
