BJP terms Congress support for Anna as 'pure hypocrisy'

New Delhi, Feb 19 (ANI): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday hit out at the Congress party for supporting social activist Anna Hazare's agitation on the Land Acquisiton Bill, terming it pure hypocrisy on the part of the party. BJP leader Sambit Patra added that his party respected Anna Hazare and would take view of the suggestions made by him. The Congress party had earlier welcomed Hazare's move against the ordinance passed by the Centre. Hazare will stage a protest in the national capital on February 24 against the Land Acquisition Bill and request the government to withdraw the ordinance. Dhaka, Feb 19 (ANI): Senior Islamist leader of Bangladeshs Jamaat-e-Islami Abdus Subhan was sentenced to death by the International Crimes Tribunal court in Dhaka for crimes committed during the 1971 war of independence with Pakistan. Subhan was the chief of Jamaats Pabna unit and was in charge of the party's highest policymaking body during the post-Liberation War in 1971. He has been charged with nine crimes against humanity, including murder, genocide, abductions, detention, torture and loot. Subhan was arrested at the toll plaza of the Bangabandhu Bridge in capital Dhaka on Sep 20, 2012. He was later shown arrested in the war crimes case and was sent to jail. New Delhi, Feb 19 (ANI): Supreme Head of the Universal Syrian Orthodox Church, Ignatius Aphrem-II urged nations to unite against militancy saying that its victims were not members of a particular religion. Speaking with mediapersons in New Delhi, Ignatius Aphrem-II expressed his concerns over brutal killings by the militants of Islamic State and repeated attacks on churches in India’s national capital. The insurgent group has expanded its reach around the Arab world. The group, on February 15 released a video showing the beheading of 21 Egyptian Christians. Ignatius Aphrem-II, who is on an 11-day visit to India, arrived in Kerala on February 7. During his visit he met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Congress Chief Sonia Gandhi and discussed the series of attacks on churches. The i8 is the first car from BMW 'I' series that is introduced to the Indian car market. The car will be sold in Mumbai, New Delhi and Chennai only and is the first BMWs sports and hybrid car. The car is powered by a 1.5 -litre turbo petrol engine (231bhp) and a 131bhp electric motor, which together produce 362bhp of power. This engine comes mated to a six-speed StepTronic transmission.
