Activists condemn rape of Sikkim girl in Delhi

New Delhi, Feb 27 (ANI): Condemning the alleged rape of a 25-year-old girl from Sikkim by a doctor in the national capital as 'extremely disturbing', activist Binalakshmi Nepram on Friday warned of a strong protest if an attempt is made to hush up the matter. She also condemned the surge in rape cases across the country. Meanwhile, another women activist, Jagmati Sangwan also expressed her outrage stating that girls from northeast are particularly vulnerable and are therefore targeted. The girl from Sikkim was allegedly raped by a doctor in the Hauz Khas area of the city. The police have initiated an inquiry in this matter following a complaint by the victim. Feb 27, 2015

Army distributes free textbooks to flood-affected children in Kashmir

Srinagar, Feb 27 (ANI): Indian army distributed free textbooks to children, hit hard by last year’s devastating floods, in Jammu and Kashmir. The initiative is part of ‘Operation Sadbhavana’ of Indian army under which it has been helping people in the areas of education, health care, community development, among others.
