Assam, Jan 8 (ANI): Some 1,500 people, including women and children, from a dozen villages in Karbi Anglong, have taken shelter in relief camps set up in Shantipur, Silonijan and Chowkihola villages. They were forced to flee their homes after clashes erupted between two militant outfits- the Karbi People's Liberation Tigers (KPLT) and the Rengma Naga Hills Protection Force at Khowani village in Karbi Anglong. Hornbill festival reflects the traditional and modern face of Nagaland

Kohima, Dec 19 (ANI): The 14th edition of the hornbill festival had a colorful start at Kisama Naga heritage village near the capital of Nagaland. During the festival 16 tribes of Nagaland presented their food, folk dances, music and other arts. The annual festival is celebrated to pay tribute to the hornbill, the most revered bird of the Nagas. It also encourages inter-tribal interaction and promotes the cultural heritage of Nagaland. The aim of this year's festival was also to promote entrepreneurship and attract investment to the state. Domestic and foreign tourists were thrilled to get a feel of the rich Naga culture. As a part of the festival, the Miss Nagaland contest was also held which witnessed the participation of 18 contestants representing every district of the state. 7th annual Tamchon football tournament attracts many spectators in New Delhi

New Delhi, Nov 29 (ANI): The 7th Annual Tamchon Football tournament, a 15-day carnival of football and cultural extravaganza, was inaugurated on November 16 at Dr. Ambedkar Stadium in New Delhi. A total of 16 teams comprising of players from different northeastern states are participating in the tournament to promote peace, friendship and unity among the youth of the country. The event has been organized under the aegis of Tanghkul Naga Society Delhi with support from various government and private agencies. During the opening day ceremony, young artists from Tripura performed a harvest dance. Donny J from Assam enthralled the audience with his melodious voice. Later, choreography was also performed by Donny, along with his group. The main attraction on the opening day of the tournament was a match between Zeliangrong Football Club (ZFC) and SSPP (FC). New Delhi, Nov 4 (ANI): A large number of people of the Naga community from the northeast gathered at the TYAGARAJ complex to mark 50 years of living in Delhi. The main theme of the event, where pictures were put up, was "Pause, Rewind and Play". The NSUD was established in 1963. During the event, a group of students performed a harmony dance in their colorful attires and mesmerized the audience. Aspiring Indian designer makes it to New York Fashion Week

Dimapur, Oct 24 (ANI): Aspiring young fashion designer, Ikali Sukhalu is all set to make her big entry into the New York Fashion Week after wining the ‘Best Designer’ title of Northeast India Academy of Performing Arts (NIAPA) Award 2013. Sukhalu is based in Dimapur city of Nagaland. The 26-year-old designer along with two other native designers will be representing India at the New York Fashion Week in February 2014. Speaking about her preparation, Sukhalu said she would give her best to make her country proud.
