New Delhi, Aug 04 (ANI): The arrest of Indian sports officials in Glasgow, where Commonwealth Games were held, has drawn flak from the political leaders. NCP leader Majid Memon said that Indian officials misbehaving abroad spoiled the image of the country and tainted the fame of sportspersons who earned good name for India abroad through their medals. Congress leader Manish Tewari said that officials representing India on an international level should behave properly. SP leader Naresh Agarwal also slammed the officials and said that the government should take note of such incidents and not send such officials as a representative abroad as they spoil India_s image. Action to be taken against officials arrested in Glasgow if allegations proved

New Delhi/Bangalore, Aug 04 (ANI): Appropriate action will be taken against the two Indian officials if reports of their misbehaviour on the sidelines of the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow are proved, Union Minister for Sports, Sarbananda Sonowal, said. Two top officials of Indian Olympic Association (IOA), general secretary, Rajiv Mehta, and wrestling referee, Virender Malik, were arrested in Glasgow on Saturday on separate charges. Indian sports officials arrested in Glasgow

New Delhi, Aug 03 (ANI): Indian wrestler Rajiv Tomar on Sunday said that the arrest of Indian sports officials in Glasgow will bring disgrace to the country and spoil the winner image. Rajeev Mehta, secretary general of the Indian Olympic Association and a senior member of the Indian contingent at the Commonwealth Games, and wrestling referee Virender Singh Malik, were arrested in Glasgow on Saturday evening, evoking shock and shame among athletes and sports lovers. The two were in custody over the weekend and will be produced in a Glasgow court on Monday.
