Ghaziabad, Oct 08 (ANI): Army Chief, General Bikram Singh on Tuesday said that his troops had foiled a ‘desperate infiltration’ bid in Keran sector of Kashmir and the militants were not in a strong position to mount any attack. The army has killed nearly 20 militants in the battle that began on September 23 and recovered large haul of sophisticated arms and ammunition. They have been conducting extensive surveillance and search operations to flush out the infiltrator militants. Speaking to mediapersons in Ghaziabad, General Singh clarified that the militants were holed up in a gutter, and even though the operation was still going on, they are not in a strong position. New Delhi, Oct 8 (ANI): Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin has assured that armed forces would deal with ceasefire violations and the recent infiltration in Keran sector of Kashmir. On Monday, the Indian Army had recovered a large haul of sophisticated arms and ammunition after a search operation on the disputed border in Kashmir, following gun battles with infiltrators from Pakistan for nearly 14 days. India's military is fighting the biggest group of infiltrators to cross from Pakistan in years, as heavily-armed fighters continue to cross the Line of Control in the Keran sector and are holed up in thick forests in the area. Kashmir, Oct 4 (ANI): Photography enthusiasts thronged a 10- day long photo exhibition on Wednesday capturing the rich historical and cultural heritage of India's Kashmir. Visitors were mesmerized by the rare pictures of the rich culture of the valley, the lives of the royal family , ancient palaces and forts which for long have been the part of Kashmir's history but have been overlooked due to ignorance. The black and white pictures were a visual treat for the photography enthusiasts who said that it was very important that the present generation see these pictures and learn about their rich past. The organisers named the exhibition "Nostalgic Kashmir" and said that the pictures on display were just 30 per cent of the complete collection collected over the years. People from all walks of life thronged the venue to see and admire the rare photographs.
