Encounter breaks out between Security forces and militants in Pulwama of JandK

Pulwama, Sep 02 (ANI): An encounter broke out between Indian security force and militants in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday. The security force had launched a massive operation in the area to nab three militants reportedly hiding in a village in Pulwama district of south Kashmir on Monday night. The militants hiding in the village area opened fire at soldiers, leading to gunbattle. Militants have been frequently attacking security bases in Kashmir since the 1990s, when there was a full-blown insurgency against Indian rule in a region over which India and Pakistan fought two of their three wars.

Two BSF jawans killed, four hurt in terror attack at Pulwama

Pulwama, Aug 16 (ANI): Just a day after India celebrated its Independence Day, militants opened fire at a vehicle of Border Security Force (BSF) and killed two para-military personnel in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday. According to reports, the militants opened fired at vehicle just outside the Awantipora IAF airfield in Pulwama district. Para-military personnel confirmed the news.

Srinagar, Aug 14 (ANI): A police vehicle was ambushed in Galendar area of Pampore in Pulwama district of south Kashmir, which claimed three lives on Wednesday evening. A civilian and two policemen were killed after militants attacked police vehicle at Galendar area on the Srinagar-Jammu highway. Militants opened heavy fire upon a police team escorting Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) of IRP 11 battalion Abdul Hameed of Keegam Shopian when he was attending nature's call at Galendar area.

Three militants killed in Pulwama gunbattle

Pulwama, June 20 (ANI): Acting on a tip off intelligence, Indian security forces gunned down three militants in a village of Pulwama district in Jammu and Kashmir, after launching combing in the area where the insurgents were hiding. As soon as they received the information of the hide out, a joint operation was brought into force, involving the Indian Army, police force and the paramilitary to track down the militants in Buchroo in Tral area in Pulwama. The militants opened fire on the security forces when they tried to cordon off the area and a fierce gunbattle took place between both sides in which three militants were killed.

Pulwama, April 13 (ANI): A militant attack killed two police personnel on Sunday when militants attacked the house of ruling National Conference youth leader Yavar Masoodi in Pulwama district of Kashmir. The militants attacked the house of Masoodi and opened fire at his house. During a brief encounter, the militants were killed and the police gun was recovered. Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) South Kashmir, Vijay Kumar said that the militants were killed in a brief encounter when the police chased them in a nearby field.

Militant killed in overnight gun battle in Kashmir

Pulwama, Feb 01 (ANI): A militant was killed in an overnight gun battle between the ultras and security forces in Pulwama district of Kashmir, as the personnel blasted off the hideout. Security forces encircled a residential house in Pulwama district of Kashmir where the militants were hiding, the militants opened fire, which was retaliated by the Indian security forces. The militants and the security forces exchanged rounds of gunfire, forcing the personnel later to use explosives to destroy the rebel's hideout.

Indo-Pak bus service continues amidst border tensions

Poonch, Sep 10 (ANI): Even as the ceasefire violations continue on the Indo- Pak border, people travelling across India and Pakistan by bus hoped for Peace and tranquillity to prevail on the disputed border of Jammu and Kashmir. Last month, a suspected militant hurled a grenade on a patrol party, injuring nine persons including five police personnel, in Pulwama district and three civilians were killed and another injured after militants attacked a CRPF camp in Shopian district. Passengers travelling across the border on Monday expressed amazement on the fact that despite ceasefire violations on both sides of the border the bus service was still continuing.
