New Delhi, Dec 03 (ANI): Petroleum minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Wednesday said that the government hiked excise duty on petrol and diesel for the second time in three weeks to shore up revenue to meet budget deficit without burdening the consumer. The government had on Tuesday raised excise duty on petrol by Rs.2.25 per litre and by Rs.1 a litre on diesel but retail pump rates will not be increased as oil firms decided to absorb the duty change for the time being. India, Mozambique enter new oil venture

New Delhi, Nov 28 (ANI): India and Mozambique signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cooperation in the field of oil and gas for five years in New Delhi on Friday. Minister of foreign affairs and cooperation of the Southeast African country, Oldemiro Julio Marques Baloi, and India’s petroleum minister Dharmendra Pradhan entered into this venture with an aim to enhance bilateral cooperation on the basis of equality and mutual benefit of both the countries. The two sides discussed various areas of mutual cooperation in the energy sector. The minister stated that both countries should work together in gas and oil sector so that the commercial interest of both the countries can be protected. He said this while attending a function in Jammu. India has three OMCs, Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL). Badaun, Nov 22 (ANI): One woman died during a stampede at an event held in Badaun district in Uttar Pradesh to mark Samajwadi Party Chief Mulayam Singh Yadav's 75th birthday on Saturday. The stampede occurred when Samajwadi Party MP Dharmendra Yadav was distributing blankets among the locals on the occasion of his party chief's birthday.
