Life of Isis: Secret network of tunnels discovered in Sinjar

Amid the wreckage of the town of Sinjar in Iraq, Kurdish peshmerga forces, which recaptured the town from Islamic State (IS) in November, have discovered a network of tunnels buried deep underground. Hidden from sight beneath the streets and shattered buildings, IS militants dug the tunnels, wired with electricity and fortified with sandbags, to protect themselves from coalition air strikes and prepare defences against the Kurdish onslaught. Australia: Rare bright orange leaf monkey born in Taronga

Australia’s Taronga Zoo is celebrating the birth of a bright orange Francois’ Langur, one of the world’s rarest monkeys. The male infant, who keepers have named Nangua after the Mandarin word for pumpkin, was discovered cradled in mother Meili’s arms on 7 November. Nov 26, 2015
