Shutdown in Kashmir against arrest and death of youths hits normal life

Srinagar, May 15 (ANI): Separatist leader and Chairman of hard-line Hurriyat Conference, Syed Ali Shah Geelani, called for a shutdown in Srinagar on Thursday as a mark of protest against the arrest and death of youths who were allegedly involved in violence. The city wore a deserted look as shops and other business establishments remained closed. An irate resident, Safiz Ahmed, said the commuters had to face the brunt of the strike as many vehicles remained off the roads. Security personnel were deployed in large numbers to avert any untoward incident. The restive region has witnessed numerous militant attacks, insurgency, and infiltration attempts from across the border in the last two decades. May 15, 2014

People of Rajouri and and Poonch have been demanding rail connectivity for years. The local leaders had promised them that the railway project would be taken up soon, but it hasn’t started yet. The govt. middle school Gohan in district Baramulla excels in education, but has a poor play ground, and as a result the students are not able to take part in different sporting activities.
