Poonch, May 22 (ANI): Police in Jammu and Kashmir arrested a militant while he was returning from neighboring Pakistan along with his wife and eight children in Poonch district. The militant identified as Mukhtiyar Ahmad left India to go to Pakistan Occupied Kashmir area in 2001 and got trained militant outfit there. In 2003, he came to take back his wife Shamima Akhtar. After a gap of 11 years Ahmad was crossing into the country via Nepal border and at the tip of intelligence the police arrested him along with his wife and children. May 22, 2014

Pakistan and Indian traders hold talks in Kashmir to resolve issues, boost business

Jammu and Kashmir, May 22 (ANI): Indian and Pakistani traders held a joint meeting to discuss and resolve their business related disputes in a bid to boost bilateral trade, after a gap of 14 months, near zero point in Jammu and Kashmir. Traders from Rawalkot in Pakistan and Poonch in India were joined by the president chamber of commerce Jammu and Kashmir and Deputy General of Trade and Travel POK area. The District police organized the meet to facilitate conversation and discussion between traders. The meet was organized after complaints pouring in about defaulters of the barter system. At least 17 killed in JandK road accident

Jammu, May 20 (ANI): At least 17 people were killed and more than 30 injured when a bus going to the Kashmir valley fell into a deep gorge on the Jammu-Srinagar highway in Ramban district of Jammu on Tuesday. According to a senior official, the bus was carrying passengers from Jammu to Srinagar and fell into a deep gorge after it went out of the driver's control at Digdol in Ramban district. Helicopters have been rushed to the spot to evacuate the injured to hospital. Most of the passengers in the bus were youths coming to the Valley from Poonch and Rajouri districts for a recruitment rally. May 20, 2014

Slow construction work of water pipelines upset Kashmir people

Srinagar, May 18 (ANI): Residents of Jammu and Kashmir remain unhappy with damaged water pipelines and roads in the capital city of Srinagar. Local residents faced inconvenience due to unfinished water pipeline work, due to which the water supply was affected in hotels and households. Over the past few years, the state government started construction work on roads, bridges, drainages and installation of water pipes in Srinagar. But some are still incomplete due to slow work and harsh weather conditions. Authorities in Roads and Buildings (R and B) department say heavy rains resulted in delay of completing works. Police busted militant hideout in Kashmir, recover arms & ammunition

Rajouri, May 16 (ANI): Police busted a militant hideout in former militant hotbed of Rajouri district in Kashmir and recovered huge cache of arms and ammunition. The army and police launched a joint search operation in Kandi located near Kankali forest in Rajouri and recovered a consignment of arms, ammunition and explosive from the hideout.
