The 62-year-old leader was brutally shot on May 13, 2013, while returning from his office in Rawalpindi in Pakistan. Allegedly targeted by the Pakistani spy agency, the motive was to weaken the struggle for freedom in Azad Kashmir. The nationalist leader was remembered on his first martyrdom anniversary by Kashmiris in Europe and Azad Kashmir. In Italy, the leader of United Kashmir People’s National Party, Sardar Shaukat Ali Kashmiri, charged Pakistani spy agencies with the killing of Arif Shahid to kill the voice for a free Azad Kashmir. No infiltration in Kashmir this year: Indian Army

Srinagar, May 25 (ANI): General Officer Commanding in Chief of Indian Army's Northern Command Lieutenant General Sanjiv Chachra said on Sunday that there have been no infiltration attempts by militants from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) in India's Kashmir valley so far this year. Chachra concluded his two-day trip to Kashmir on Sunday and visited Chinar Corps War Memorial to pay his tribute to the fallen heroes who laid down their lives in the service of the nation. It Happens: Book exhibition delights bibliophiles in Kashmir

Srinagar, May 23 (ANI): Enthusiasts belonging to varied age groups attended the unique book exhibition depicting the rich history of the Kashmir valley as a welcome step towards inculcating the passion of reading classics, especially among youth of Jammu and Kashmir. The exhibition showcased a blend of the modern with the ancient and included a wide range of books on history, geography, culture, tradition, ancient and contemporary literature, science and technology, Islam, Sufism and heritage of the state. The exhibition was organised by Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture & Languages in collaboration with the department of Archives and Archeology and aimed to spread awareness among the youth of the valley regarding the value of the rare books.
