Bangladesh: Law Ministers demand for speedy trial of Pak war criminals gets support

Dhaka, Mar 1 (ANI): One of Bangladesh's leading lawyers, Barrister Tureen Afroz recently hailed the country’s Law Minister Shafique Ahmed’s demand for conducting a speedy trial of Pakistani war criminals, accused of committing genocide during the 1971 liberation struggle. The Law Minister had hinted that 195 war criminals, who were handed over to Pakistan by Shimla Agreement -- tripartite treaty between India, Pakistan and Bangladesh – be brought to justice. Afroz said amnesty cannot be granted to war criminals under the Vienna convention, adding that international treaty is not binding on Bangladesh legal system unless approved by the parliament.
