India agrees with US on food stockpiling, clears way for WTO deal

New Delhi, Nov 13 (ANI): India has reached an agreement with the United States on public stockpiling of food, Trade Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman, said on Thursday (November 13), paving the way for the implementation of a global trade facilitation deal that has been stalled for months. The proposals will be reviewed by the World Trade Organization's General Council, she added, expressing the hope that approval would clear the way for India to sign a protocol enabling implementation of the trade accord. Arun Jaitley stresses on need for meaningful employment at second edition of Services Conclave

New Delhi, Nov 12 (ANI): Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Wednesday (November 12) stressed on the need for creation of jobs in the services and manufacturing sector in order to provide meaningful employment to the under-employed population. Jaitley was speaking at the second edition of Services Conclave in New Delhi. He also laid emphasis on services sector exports to compensate for the deficit in the merchandise exports. Commerce and Industry Minister Nirmala Sitharaman was also present at the event. Citing India's global expertise in the field of Information Technology (IT), Jaitley said this success had to be replicated in some other sectors too. New Delhi, Sep 25 (ANI): During 'Make in India' launch event on Thursday in New Delhi, Commerce and industry minister Nirmala Sitharaman said that the government has been able to change perception of India in last few months. She said that the government is committed to make India a manufacturing hub. She also said that validity on industrial licences will be extended to 3 years and the government is now amending number of labour laws. Sitharaman further added that said a series of measures have been taken on ease of doing business and the government is fully commited to de-licensing, deregulating and taking India to high growth trajectory.
