Wushu player Yumnam Sanathoi Devi makes India proud

Manipur, Nov 10 (ANI): Yumnam Sanathoi Devi is one among the few Wushu players in the country. A resident of Yairipok Top Chingtha village in Thoubal district of Manipur, she won a bronze medal at the recently concluded Incheon Asian Games. Her next targets are to win gold medals at 2015 World Wushu Championship and Rio 2016 Olympics. Sanathoi took up Wushu, a traditional Chinese martial arts in 2003 under the guidance of Maibam Surbala Devi and later under Moirangthem Ibomcha Meitei. She later availed training by the Sports Authority of India. Hailing from a poor family, Sanathoi had to struggle a lot to reach at this stage. Pursuing her graduation, Sanathoi also helps out her family in making clothes in looms during her leisure time. Artist couple from Nepal displayed etching, an intricate art form, in India

New Delhi, Nov 08 (ANI): Uma Shankar Shah and Seema Shah, an artist couple from Nepal exhibited their various etchings and oil paintings in Delhi depicting the cultural mix of Nepal and India. Their work reflects the impressions of Indian Mythology, Ramayan and Buddhism which comes out so well that it becomes difficult to distinguish between the two cultures. While Seema Shah comes from the ancient Indian city of Varanasi, Umashankar Shah is from the plains of Mahottari in Nepal. The artwork of both artists is well appreciated by the visitors. The artist couple from Nepal is looking for better exposure and appreciation in India. The exhibition titled 'Sacred Spaces' will continue at Shridharani Gallery at Triveni Kala Sangam till November 14. Nov 8, 2014
