Leh, Aug 12 (ANI): Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Tuesday thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and also credited Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for the electric power projects in the state. Modi is to inaugurate the 45 MW Nimoo-Bazgo hydroelectric power project in Leh and later, 44 MW hydro power project at Chutak village in Kargil district while on his day long visit in the valley. Leh, Aug 12 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the 45 MW Nimoo-Bazgo hydroelectric power project at Leh polo grounds on Tuesday. The power project is situated at Alchi village, 70 km from Leh. Modi arrived in Ladakh early in morning on a daylong visit. He was received at the Leh airport by Jammu and Kashmir governor NN Vohra, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Ladakh parliamentarian Nawan Rigzin Jora, Chief of Indian Army Gen Dalbir Singh Suhag and senior civil, police and military officials. The fresh ceasefire violation comes ahead of the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Ladakh region's Leh and Kargil districts on Tuesday, where he is going to inaugurate power projects and address troops in Leh. Two BSF soldiers and two civilians got injured in unprovoked firing. Pakistan resorted to unprovoked firing on Sunday night (August 10) and the BSF also retaliated in Arnia sector of R S Pura in Jammu district. Srinagar, Aug 11 (ANI): The US government has extended by one year the adverse travel advisory on Jammu and Kashmir citing militant attacks and violent public unrest in the disputed Himalayan region. The Himalayan region is one of the world's most militarised zones, with India deploying more than 1.3 million troops to quell the rebellion that triggered off in 1989. However, few foreign tourists visiting the valley said they had a good and positive experience and felt if the advisory is lifted, influx of tourists would increase. The chief engineer of the Public Health Engineering (PHE) department, Muzaffar Lankar, submitted his resignation to state government after he accused Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution Minister, Choudhary Mohammad Ramzan, of using abusive language against him during a meeting at Civil Secretariat in Srinagar city. Supporters said Lankar was an honest man and hit out at minister. Protesters also demanded an apology from the government.
