Pune's soccer fans enjoy Northeast football tournament

Pune, March 09 (ANI): Soccer fans made a beeline to Police Football Ground in Shivaji Nagar in Pune to watch the 1st North East Community Organization Pune Football Trophy (NECOP) 2014. A total of 13 teams comprising players from the Northeast participated in the tournament organized by the North East Community Organization, Pune. The aim was to promote national integration and unity. A large number of spectators gathered to watch the thrilling tournament. The Naga student Union, Pune won the title defeating Manipur Student Association Pune 6-0. The winners bagged a cash prize of Rs 20,000 along with a trophy while the 1st runners-up received Rs 10,000 and a trophy. Mar 9, 2014

Government holds tripartite talks with United Naga Council in Manipur

Manipur, Feb 21 (ANI): The 7th round of tripartite talks between the United Naga Council, Central Government and Manipur Government over the demand for an alternative arrangement for the Nagas of Manipur was held recently at Senapati district headquarters. The Centre's team was headed by joint secretary (Northeast) Shambhu Singh while UNC's 10-member delegation was led by its President L Adani. The State Government delegation included Rural Development Minister Francis Ngajokpa and Principal Secretary (Home) Dr Suresh Babu. The United Naga Council is the apex body of the Nagas in Manipur and has been demanding an alternative arrangement beyond the control of the Manipur government for the Nagas in the state. Hornbill festival reflects the traditional and modern face of Nagaland

Kohima, Dec 19 (ANI): The 14th edition of the hornbill festival had a colorful start at Kisama Naga heritage village near the capital of Nagaland. During the festival 16 tribes of Nagaland presented their food, folk dances, music and other arts. The annual festival is celebrated to pay tribute to the hornbill, the most revered bird of the Nagas. It also encourages inter-tribal interaction and promotes the cultural heritage of Nagaland. The aim of this year's festival was also to promote entrepreneurship and attract investment to the state. Domestic and foreign tourists were thrilled to get a feel of the rich Naga culture. As a part of the festival, the Miss Nagaland contest was also held which witnessed the participation of 18 contestants representing every district of the state. 7th annual Tamchon football tournament attracts many spectators in New Delhi

New Delhi, Nov 29 (ANI): The 7th Annual Tamchon Football tournament, a 15-day carnival of football and cultural extravaganza, was inaugurated on November 16 at Dr. Ambedkar Stadium in New Delhi. A total of 16 teams comprising of players from different northeastern states are participating in the tournament to promote peace, friendship and unity among the youth of the country. The event has been organized under the aegis of Tanghkul Naga Society Delhi with support from various government and private agencies. During the opening day ceremony, young artists from Tripura performed a harvest dance. Donny J from Assam enthralled the audience with his melodious voice. Later, choreography was also performed by Donny, along with his group. The main attraction on the opening day of the tournament was a match between Zeliangrong Football Club (ZFC) and SSPP (FC).
