Srinagar, Aug 29 (ANI): State assembly of Jammu and Kashmir witnessed mayhem on Friday after a leader of ruling National Conference (NC) party stormed into the well of the House accusing opposition leaders of multi-million land scam. NC legislator Doctor Veeri alleged that patron of regional Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and deputy speaker of legislative assembly, Muhammad Sartaj Madni, were party to a multi-crore land scam in south Kashmir. Chief Secretary M Iqbal Khandey was directed to ascertain the facts over the allegations of a legislator that some opposition party members were encroaching upon government land. The directions to Khandey came from Legislative Council Chairman Amrit Malhotra after the NC members raised the issue. NCP leader Tariq Anwar said that urging the government to resume talks is a fair resolution and it is nothing debatable. Junior Engineer, Javed Iqbal, said the power station aims at providing uninterrupted power supply. A resident, Ratan Lal, added lack of electricity impacted the industry work earlier. However, the plant, which was set up in June this year, is benefiting the people immensely. No line men from city ever visited the area to fix the electricity poles. People are now getting an opportunity to start their own work, which has generated employment opportunities for many. Akhnoor, Aug 28 (ANI): Ceasefire violation post the Indo-Pak flag meeting in Akhnoor district in Jammu and Kashmir appalled and angered the villagers. Pakistani Rangers and paramilitary Border Security Force (BSF) held the first flag meeting on August 27 since the multiple ceasefire violations by nuclear-armed Pakistan. The meeting was held at the Nikowal Border Outpost in the district. Reportedly, hours after the meeting, Pakistan Rangers started firing late night and violated the ceasefire again early morning at around 4 am. Villagers lamented living under constant threat to life amid continuous ceasefire violation by Pakistani troops along the international border. A local, Manjeet Singh, expressed his anguish of dealing with ceasefire violation everyday.
