While it has huge potential in horticulture production, the region has to depend on other states due to lack of good quality seedlings. In a move to be self-reliant, the first of its kind agri hub nursery was inaugurated at the horticulture farm on Assam Agriculture University campus in Jorhat. It has been developed at a cost of Rs. 15 crores financed under the Rashtriya Krishi Vikash Yojana. The nursery will annually produce 48 lakhs seedlings of various vegetables and seasonal flowers. New Delhi, Dec 03 (ANI): Petroleum minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Wednesday said that the government hiked excise duty on petrol and diesel for the second time in three weeks to shore up revenue to meet budget deficit without burdening the consumer. The government had on Tuesday raised excise duty on petrol by Rs.2.25 per litre and by Rs.1 a litre on diesel but retail pump rates will not be increased as oil firms decided to absorb the duty change for the time being. New Delhi, Nov 28 (ANI): India and Mozambique signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cooperation in the field of oil and gas for five years in New Delhi on Friday. Minister of foreign affairs and cooperation of the Southeast African country, Oldemiro Julio Marques Baloi, and India’s petroleum minister Dharmendra Pradhan entered into this venture with an aim to enhance bilateral cooperation on the basis of equality and mutual benefit of both the countries. The two sides discussed various areas of mutual cooperation in the energy sector. The minister stated that both countries should work together in gas and oil sector so that the commercial interest of both the countries can be protected.
